Airbornics Defense & Space Private Limited (ADSL), under the JCBL Group, will now have a strategic partnership with Slovakia to develop and manufacture advanced technology in light tanks and combat vehicles. This MoU was signed under President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Slovakia in April 2025 in the presence of an Indian business delegation.
The MoU provides that ADSL will manufacture such critical systems for light tanks in India, including turrets, active protection systems, remote weapon stations, and human-machine interface modules. The same is a part of India-specific initiatives relating to Atmanirbhar Bharat that promote self-reliance in defense production, leveraging domestic manufacturing.
The agreement now enables technology transfer from Slovakia for the co-development of combat platforms for difficult terrain conditions and high-altitude environments. It also sets India on a potential road for defense exports by leveraging the local manufacturing capability with Slovakia's technological and manufacturing expertise.
ADSL has a proven track record, having collaborated with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to develop the Type V Heavy Drop, which boosts the Indian Air Force's air dropping capability of supplies in remote areas, thus enhancing logistics.
This partnership will be a significant milestone for the Indian defense industry to become a growing hub for global manufacturing and international collaboration. In this way, by blending advanced technology and indigenous production, ADSL is helping form a self-reliant yet competitive defense sector.
